August 2004

'Dad' John Merwin writes: Kitty Merwin from Saint Louis, Missouri, USA insisted that her Dad take her the second time to Abbey Road because "I was walking the wrong way". We finally got it "right" the second day. Well done Kitty! I guess your Dad is too young to remember exactly how the original looked!

Pictured above are, from left to right, Mathieu St Louis, Jean-Hugues Coudry and Jean-Nicolas Charbonneau, all from Montreal, Canada. They 'Crossed Over' on 9 June 2004 and then took the picture above at the sign. I hope they remembered where they left their shoes!

The Banick family from Chicago, Illinois, first 'Crossed Over' on 18 May 2002. They enjoyed it so much they came back again in May 2004 and here are the pictures to prove it! Above, are sisters Tara and Trina............

..........followed by Mum and Dad - Don and Jean...........

...........and then of course Trina and Tara. Just to be different, Tara decided to keep her shoes on this time! Thanks for sending the pictures Tara. We look forward to hearing from you again after your next visit!

On the 11 June 2004 Richard Porter - author of The Abbey Road Café Guide To The Beatles' London and the Tour Guide for the daily London Beatles Walks - married the lovely Irena at London's Marylebone Registry Office. After the ceremony it was only fitting that Richard and Irena should visit Abbey Road and above here they are at the sign...............

............and again here on the steps of Abbey Road. We wish them every happiness for their future together.

Above is something I've scanned in from The Times newspaper (7 July 2004 edition) regarding a visit by R&B singer Jamelia to Abbey Road. Any government initiative to promote music in education can only be for the good. Well done Jamelia!

Doug Royal from Goldsboro, NC USA writes: This picture was taken on May 24, 2004. This was my third visit to the crossing and second to the Abbey Road Café. I was fortunate enough to purchase the three screenprints (limited edition Abbey Road, Help and Sgt. Pepper album cover originals by Paul Cassidy) and a few other items at your shop. I look forward to another visit in a few years.

This is Jason Geidt from Laguna Niguel, California standing at the sign. Unfortunately Jason's photo had been double exposed so we've had to do a little computer trickery to correct the problem. Hope it's OK for you Jason!

..........and this is Jason together with Steve Geidt, Crossing Over. This was July 4th, 2004 and the pictures were taken by Ginger Geidt.

This is Luis Carlos Kufner 'Crossing Over' in May 2004........

.........Luis visited Abbey Road with his wife, Tatiana, pictured here outside the Abbey Road Café ...........

......and finally Luis and Tatiana - who are from Rio de Janeiro - together at the sign.

Scott writes: Hello from Orlando, Florida! We just returned home from a fantastic week in London with our 12 year old daughter Lauren. She's very good at playing along and seeming interested in my never-diminishing love of The Beatles. This is a picture of her hopping (only on the white spaces!) across that famous crossing just for me.............

.......We ended up buying souvenirs for ourselves at the Abbey Road Café, and then coming back the next day to load up on souvenirs for all our friends. We had planned on taking a daytrip to Liverpool, but time would not allow. After a few hours at the Studio and the Café though, my Beatles needs were well taken care of!
